Hello, Baby New Year!

Dear 2010,

Look at you!  So cute, so fresh!  I just want to pinch your little cheeks and tickle your cute little toes!

Why am I so happy to see you?  Well, frankly, 2009 was one crummy year.  Granted, it had some plus factors, such as, my writing career, which improved dramatically.  And by dramatically, I mean I'm pretty sure my billings allowed me to cross the poverty level.  And this is only my second year at it!

However, the Boy lost his job, Pa Jaracz has been in and out of the hospital more times than I care to think about, and the draftiness in our apartment won't ever seem to go away.  The job loss meant that we didn't really have the money to enjoy living in a city, and let me tell you, dealing with the crappy aspects of city life just gets a person down.

Granted, the Boy recently got a new job, so we're leaving 2009 on a better note.  Still, you, dear 2010, look to be a year full of promise and adventure with new beginnings.  I hope (for your sake) you're good to us.

Otherwise, you'll be hearing from me in a year.

Your pal,
Jill

  1. Happy new year to you, my good ole pal, Jill.

It's great that you have yourself a new (or is that another) blog. I've been contemplating starting one myself, but I don't know yet what I would blog about. I'll keep thinking about it.

Anyhow, on to my comment (which I thought should appropriately written in letter format). As I was reading your introductory blog here, I started thinking about all the other "equally generous" sentiments about 2009 and all the hopeful ones about 2010. I tried to think back to what I said at the end of 2008 and the beginning of 2009. If I recall, I pretty much said the same thing as I'm saying now. The old year wasn't that great so the new year can only get better. Boy, I sure do hope I get one of these transition predictions right some day.

    Take care.

  2. Dear Jill,
I couldn't agree with you more. 2009 needed to be swept under the carpet. Here at my casa, we also need the upswing of 2010 and I'm hoping that it is better for all of us. One of the many downfalls of our poverty is that yet another year goes by that I didn't get to hang out with you (let alone road trip or at least enjoy a factory tour). May 2010 be better for all of us. Please keep up the writing, I for one, really enjoy the wit and intelligence of my good "pal". Love, Missy
